Songbox is an experiment in social music I am working on as a nights and weekends project. In the age of AI/ML powered recommendations, digital music has become increasingly individual. I believe music is an inherently social experience and am exploring ways to make digital music more social.

Problems

After discussions with friends and analyzing existing music sharing flows, I identified two main problems: 1. Songs are often lost in text messages. 2. Sharing songs on IG stories lacks a personal touch.

Solution

I designed an Inbox-like experience for music, allowing users to drop songs into friends' inboxes, which can then be synced with Spotify. The concept also includes a "snap streak" like feature to drive continued engagement and retention.

Prototyping

The prototype, coded using SwiftUI, showcases my proficiency in rapid prototyping and communicating with engineers. I plan to integrate this with Spotify, launching it as both a standalone app and a potential feature within Spotify's core app.
